Contact Us

Opening hours, address, phone and directions to plan your visit.

We are a family, not a call centre. When you phone us, it is Anne or Pierre who picks up. When you push open the door of 2 rue Bernadette Soubirous, it is we who welcome you, as our family has done for six generations.

The Maison Paternelle de Sainte Bernadette — the Paternal Home of Saint Bernadette, the former Moulin Lacadé — stands in the historic heart of Lourdes, a four-minute walk from the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Here is everything you need to reach us, find us and come and see us.

Maison Paternelle de Sainte Bernadette (Moulin Lacadé)
2 rue Bernadette Soubirous, 65100 Lourdes
Hautes-Pyrénées (65), Occitanie

Our house stands on the former rue des Moulins, later renamed rue Bernadette Soubirous. You are a four-minute walk from the Sanctuary, in old Lourdes.

Our opening hours

We welcome you every day, from April to October:
9:30 – 12:15 and 14:15 – 18:30

Yes, even on Tuesdays. That is the day the family takes a little breather, but the house stays open: someone is always there to welcome you.

In winter, from November to March, the house rests. We then open occasionally, depending on visitor numbers and pilgrimages — and always on 11 February, the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. If you are passing through Lourdes out of season, call us before you come: we will do our best to open our doors to you.

Self-guided visit, allow 15 to 20 minutes. Contribution towards upkeep: €2.50, and €2 per person for groups of 15 people or more (free for children under 16, members of religious orders and visitors with disabilities).

How to get to the Paternal Home

Lourdes is very well connected. Once in town, everything is within walking distance: our house is right in the historic centre.

On foot, from the Sanctuary

Just a four-minute walk. From the esplanade of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, head up towards old Lourdes: you will be on rue Bernadette Soubirous within a few minutes.

By train

Lourdes railway station is about ten minutes away on foot (around 800 metres). Lourdes has direct connections to Pau, Tarbes, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Paris. Shuttle buses also serve the centre and the Sanctuary.

By car

Allow around 45 minutes from Pau, 2 hours from Toulouse, 3 hours from Bordeaux. Rue Bernadette Soubirous is old and narrow: park in one of the public car parks in the centre (a 3 to 5-minute walk) and join us on foot.

By plane

Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées airport is about fifteen kilometres away. Shuttle buses and taxis (allow around €25) connect the airport to the centre of Lourdes.

Call us

Telephone: 05 62 94 22 51

Do not hesitate to call us, especially for groups, pilgrimages, or an out-of-season visit. A member of the family will answer.

Write to us

Do you have a question about the visit, the relics, a group booking or a pilgrimage project? Write to us or call us. We reply to every message, even if it sometimes takes us a day or two: our visitors come first.

Booking your visit

For an individual visit, you can simply come during opening hours, no booking needed.

For groups and pilgrimages, booking is recommended: it allows us to welcome you in the best conditions and, depending on availability, to arrange for a member of the family to accompany you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Paternal Home open on Tuesdays?

Yes. We open every day from April to October, from 9:30 to 12:15 and from 14:15 to 18:30, including Tuesdays. Tuesday is the family's day of rest, but the house stays open and you are welcomed by our team. In winter, the house is normally closed: we open occasionally depending on visitor numbers, and always on 11 February.

What is the address of the Maison Paternelle de Sainte Bernadette?

The Paternal Home (the former Moulin Lacadé) is at 2 rue Bernadette Soubirous, 65100 Lourdes, in the historic centre, a four-minute walk from the Sanctuary.

Do I need to book to visit?

Not if you are an individual visitor: just come during opening hours. Booking is recommended for groups and for pilgrimages.

Is there parking nearby?

Not in front of the house: rue Bernadette Soubirous is old and narrow. Several public car parks are a 3 to 5-minute walk away. If you are coming from the Sanctuary, you can reach us on foot in four minutes.

Is the house accessible to visitors with reduced mobility?

The ground floor (the kitchen where Louise died, the mill and the relics room) is wheelchair accessible. The upper floor is not: the staircase is old and narrow, with no lift. For visitors who cannot climb the stairs, we bring down photographs of the bedrooms.

How long does the visit take?

Allow 15 to 20 minutes for the self-guided visit. The house is compact but rich in authentic objects; many visitors happily take a little more time in front of the relics.

Come and see us

A house cannot really be conveyed over the telephone. The simplest thing is still to push open the door. When you come to Lourdes, drop in and see us: we always take the time to welcome our visitors and to tell this story just as the family has passed it down, from generation to generation.
