The museum of Bernadette's family, in the heart of Lourdes
The Paternal Home of Saint Bernadette
There is a house in Lourdes where Bernadette often came: her family's home. We have watched over it for six generations.

A family, not a museum like the others
We are Anne and Pierre, the sixth generation of the Soubirous family.
This house is the last home of Bernadette's parents, François and Louise. We keep it exactly as it was when François died, in 1871.
Nothing here has been reconstructed: everything is original. It is the only place connected to Bernadette in Lourdes still kept by her family.
What makes this house unique
Authentic relics
The christening gown Bernadette embroidered, her letters, her missal, a small grotto she carved out of coal. Objects she touched, kept in the family since the 19th century.
The only house kept by the family
For six generations, this house has been handed down within the Soubirous family. When you walk in, a member of the family welcomes you.
Frozen in time since 1871
Nothing has moved since François died. Louise's bed is still in the kitchen, François's upstairs, every object in its place.
What you will discover when you push the door open
A house of old Lourdes, a four-minute walk from the Sanctuary.
The kitchen where Louise died, next to the fireplace. François's bedroom upstairs. And the room where Bernadette's relics are kept.
The visit is self-guided and lasts 15 to 20 minutes — time enough to cross a century and a half of family history, at your own pace.

Bernadette's story, told by her family
Before the saint, there was a poor little girl, born in a mill, who kept sheep in Bartrès.
We tell her story as it happened: intimate, human, without legend. The story only a family can pass on.
